Ballet career: Tyrone Singleton joined the Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2003. That year he was also gained the Solo Seal Award, the highest level of examination offered by the Royal Academy of Dance. He made the headlines in Luke Jennings Observer article with Céline Gittens as ‘The first mixed-race leads in Swan Lake’ (2012).
In 2013, he rose to Principal dancer in the company. Singleton has performed many lead roles and one of the most demanding was dancing Romeo in Sir Kenneth MacMillian’s Romeo and Juliet. He has made guest appearances internationally and danced with the National Ballet in Japan in Faster and Carmina Burana.
Creative career: Singleton has made television appearances on Strictly Ballroom, and Rob and Romesh, among others. He enjoys podcasts and created a series Tom and Ry Talk, interviewing ballet artists. He also enjoys visual arts and photography.
